Ghastly Escapes was the first scary escape room in Charlotte, NC, and it was incredibly popular back in the day. That is, until the business abruptly closed down due to the tragic and unexplained death of its owner, Felix.

The venue sat empty for over a decade, untouched, until Masterpiece Escapes was offered the lease. We took the space over and decided to run the original games the way they were intended… but some things should just stay closed.

The Bagman is a legend found in many cultures, and is where the term, “boogeyman,” comes from. Tales of a mysterious creature sneaking into homes to abduct kids who stay up past their bedtime exist in various forms across the globe. In eastern Europe, the entity was known as the “Bubak” and took the form of a scarecrow. The creature terrorized communities, stealing away souls by placing a sack over the heads of those unfortunate people who came face-to-face with it.

This was Ghastly Escapes’ first game.
